Lonely and Emotionless

The boy was known to date many girls. The girl was pursued by many boys only to reject them. He was afraid of being lonely, and she was afraid of feeling emotion. Initially, they were not the most compatible match. They were friends who secretly disliked each other, but that soon changed when he didnt show up to school for quite a while. She realized his foolish jokes were the reason she laughed, and he realized that ugly face was sweet and caring.
When he came back they engaged in conversation, finally warming up to each other. But the next day, they completely ignored one another. He was confused if she liked him or not, and she was nervous. The following day, the girl mastered up all of her courage and hugged him. Its your welcome back hug, she muffled into his jacket. Only two days later did the shy part of their relationship disintegrate. The boy no longer felt lonely, and the girl knew she could trust him.
They were inseparable. They talked on the phone until they could barely speak, and just couldnt get enough of each other. He would sing her to sleep every night, and she would wear his jacket to sleep. Her face would warm up each time they kissed, and he would brag about how much he loved her to everyone. They spent each lunch together, sitting at their own private table, getting to the point where they silently enjoyed each others presence. Do your parents know you guys are dating? a girl named Sara asked the girl. The girl didnt trust Sara; she had heard rumors about Sara. Sara had also tried to steal her best friends boyfriend. After the boy told her several stories on how Sara began to gossip about her and cringe at the sound of her name, she decided she had had enough. She went to go confront Sara, knowing that she has a promiscuous record. Sara, in spite, told the boy that she was going to spread a rumor that the girl lost her virginity to another boy if he didnt break up with her. He was not allowed to tell her, or she would spread the rumor anyway. It took three years for their relationship to be where it was. It took four seconds to end it. It took 1 second for her heart to drop and shatter in to millions of pieces.
She had noticed that Sara was in the background watching, making sure he would do as he was told. When she looked up at him with tears about to spill, Sara walked up to him. She grabbed his face and forcefully kissed him. By this time, the poor girl had tears streaming down her face and her adrenaline pumping. She was not the type to fight, so she yelled at him. She told him how she was the only one she trusted in several years, and ran away bawling. The boy was no longer allowed to talk to her. He could barely sit at the same lunch table alone, remembering how happy they both used to be.
Now, they both pass by each other like strangers, never making eye contact. She had cried for several days straight, to once in a while every week, to about twice a month, to none at all.
He never told her about Sara threatening to spread the rumor. He never told her that he broke her heart to protect her. He didnt dare to move on, knowing that she was the one, and just like that he became alone. She went to think she still could not trust anyone, not even your true love, and stopped feeling.
