why hello there, fall.

Fall 4FallFall 2Fall 5
Fall 7Fall 8Fall 9Fall 6

Fall is officially here in all its glory... crisp mornings, yellow leaves, perfect-for-sleeping nights and temperatures chilly enough for us to rock our layered ensembles (let's hear it for scarves and booties!).

I find myself gravitating towards richer colours, cozy clothing (it's the return of sweater weather), anything pumpkiny and hot tea with lemon & honey. Fall is my absolute favourite. I just wish it lasted longer.

What about you? What do you love about fall?

p.s. Pics are from Instagram, where I've been having a ball. Find me at allkindsoflovelyblog. (:

eat: thyme & dijon turkey sliders

Turkey burgers 1 Turkey burgers 2

One of my new favorite dishes to make (and eat) are these four ingredient turkey sliders. They're moist, flavourful and easy to assemble - which is a godsend after a long day at work. We like to grill them but they can also be popped into the oven just as easily.

Here's how to make them...

  • Saut a handful of finely chopped red onion in olive oil. In a large bowl, combine the onion with 1 pound of ground turkey. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh thyme and 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard; season with salt & pepper. Combine well with a fork. Gently form mixture into four small (or two huge) patties. Using your thumb, make a small indentation in the center of each pattie.
  • Heat grill to medium-high heat. Grill sliders for 5 to 7 minutes. Turn over; grill until cooked through, about another 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Or you can bake them at 450 degrees on a baking sheet until sizzling, 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Serve with lettuce & cranberry mayo (so delish - just equal amounts cranberry sauce & mayo).

Bon apptit, friends! I hope you like these as much as we do.

loving... lace dresses

Especially these ones from BCBG.

JULYA LACE COCKTAIL DRESS / KHLOE LACE COCKTAIL DRESS / WILLA LACE COCKTAIL DRESS
I popped in for just a casual look-see and was completely entranced by these lacey numbers. The pink one is a serious contender for a place in my closet. The best part is that I might actually have a fancy enough shindig to wear it to this fall. Maybe even two! The worst part? I already have three lace dresses. And an obsession, apparently.

Even though I left the store dressless (restraint came to me this time) I did manage to snag this tortoiseshell necklace for under thirty dollars. Don't you just love a good summer sale?

Hope you're having a fantastic week.

a summer wedding

My childhood friend Jacquie married the love of her life on Saturday. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for an outdoor wedding. The festivities began at a charming downtown park and ended at a popular wine shop - so fitting for my Malbec loving friend and her Argentinian groom.

Congratulations Jacquie and Nacho! We're so happy for you.

heritage festival!

Dragon dancers

Happy long weekend, friends!

I'll be at Hawrelak Park all weekend long enjoying the Heritage Festival. The three-day multicultural event is, hands down, my favourite Edmonton festival.

It features 62 pavilions (representing over 85 cultures) and their dance, music, arts & crafts and of course, food. Oh, the food! There are 612 droolworthy items on this year's menu.

At last year's event, I ate my way through 20 countries (pics here). This time around I'm hoping to discover even more deliciousness.

I hope to see you there! And please don't forget to bring in a donation for the Edmonton Food Bank. This weekend is their single largest annual food drive. Let's help them reach their 50,000 kg goal.

j. crew men's collection arrives in edmonton

Come August 28, the J.Crew men's collection will be available at West Edmonton Mall.

I'm happy to share this news with my fashionable fella. The last time we visited J.Crew, Scott patiently waited in the shoe section while I painstakingly perused all of the lady items. Not anymore! In just a few weeks, he'll have his very own menswear section to peruse - including suiting, outerwear, shoes and accessories.

Another thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing Scott in a Ludlow suit. Just like this handsome violin-playing gent:

The dapper gents pictured are part of J. Crew's new feature Hello, World! that shows eight stylish movers and shakers from Hong Kong to Madrid wearing their J.Crew best on a regular day.

It's a nice reminder that good style is, actually, universal.
